END-OF-LIFE CEREMONIES
Life, Love & Loss Ceremonies
...are truly a beautiful expression of love. Coping with loss is one of life's greatest challenges, but honouring a life is incredibly important. I will guide you through this daunting task, making it a little easier to navigate allowing you more time with family and friends, and time to grieve.
If you have specific needs, budget or ideas I am happy to discuss it and endeavour to work with you to create a ceremony that honours your loved one.
Preparing a funeral, memorial, wake or celebration, or a eulogy is a daunting, and something you may only do once or twice in your lifetime. It is not something we often discuss and can be completely overwhelming. It is difficult to even know where to start. But I can guide you through every step of the process, and give the tools and knowledge you need, alleviating much of the stress you may have to endure. I can also recommend and connect you with a funeral home in your area if needed.
HOW I CAN HELP
From the moment we connect, my priority is to ensure that you feel comfortable and supported as I guide you through this challenging process. I will walk you through every step and provide industry tips and knowledge to help you make the right decisions for you and your loved one. I place particular emphasis on personalisng each ceremony to honour your loved one and their wishes, as well as your own.
MEMORIAL SERVICES
Unlike a traditional funeral service, a memorial service provides the flexibility to hold the gathering at a time that suits everyone, removing the pressure of a formal funeral attended event. It gives you time to arrange a more personable and heartfelt tribute, free from the feeling of haste. A memorial may be held at anytime for, example a week, a month, or even a year later. It also allows you the time to organise a ceremony which aligns with your loved one's beliefs. Whether its a relaxed paddle-out at the beach, a simple gathering at the golf club, or a spiritual farewell in nature, I can craft a ceremony that honours your loved one. You may wish to include rituals, traditions, or cultural beliefs. The ceremony can be as unique as your loved one.
FUNERALS
If you prefer a traditional funeral service, I will work in collaboration with the funeral home of your choice, or can recommend a reputable funeral home.
WAKES & CELEBRATIONS
Traditionally, a wake was a viewing where mourners would spend time with their loved one and offer their condolences and support to family and friends. However, over time a wake is also considered to be a gathering after the Funeral or Memorial Service similarly to offer condolences and support, but without a viewing. Wakes vary in many ways and can take whatever form you like…from tea and coffee at the funeral home, to a big celebration party at the local club.
The funeral industry has changed as society has and now offers more choices, including Celebrations-of-Life.
Living Funerals Or Living Wakes
Those who know their death is imminent may choose to celebrate their life before they die. Rather than have a funeral when they pass, they may opt to have a ceremony, a celebration, or a living wake. They can be similar to a funeral as they may have their eulogy shared, along with stories told, a slideshow, their favourite music, food and so on. It is a chance to say goodbye.
